EZ-HAN is a bi-directional Chinese-English, English-Chinese dictionary with a text analyzer, bi-directional natural language translator and human voice reader.
The dictionary contains approximately 105,000 Mandarin words and phrases (including thousands of specialized terms) and over 500,000 English words and phrases.
You can search for definitions, synonyms, homonyms, rhymes and sample usages based upon English, Pinyin or Chinese characters. (Please note that all synonyms should be verified by a subsequent word search in order to confirm the intended shade of meaning.)
The dictionary is fully expandable!. You may add new words and phrases, as well as edit and delete existing words and phrases. You may then contribute those newly updated entries to the EZ-HAN community database. Subsequent updates to the application may then include your new entries.
There is also an extended search feature that will find a definition that is not currently in the dictionary.
You can also type or paste entire blocks of text (i.e. news articles, emails, ebooks, etc.) into a text view. With the touch of a toolbar button, EZ-HAN will perform both an analysis of Chinese text (i.e. highlighting compounds) and also a natural language translation of that text. EZ-HAN will analyze and translate Chinese text into English, and translate English text into Chinese. (You may optionally highlight specific characters, compounds, words or phrases for such analysis.)
EZ-HAN reads words, phrases and blocks of text with accurate and natural pronunciation in both Mandarin and English.
You may ask questions or report issues with the touch of a button for personalized support.
EZ-HAN supports both simplified and traditional scripts. The user may switch between simplified and traditional character recognition through the iPhone or iPad settings view for the EZ-HAN application.
Web access is required for the extended search, natural language translation, human voice and community database features.
